Spectacular beaches, pleasant climate, historical attractions, tasty cuisine and diverse culture.

Don’t know what to pack for your discount cruise? Many people don’t, especially the first-time cruisers. On the one hand, they want to pack lightly and on the other, they want to make sure that they have everything they need for the trip of a lifetime. However, there is no reason to worry too much about packing. You probably won’t forget anything important but even if you do, on-board shops are well supplied. Just in case, let’s go through the basics.

Tip #1: Pack Clothing That Offers Both the Looks and Comfort

In addition to packing clothing that makes you look and feel good about yourself, you should also make sure to pack clothing that offers comfort. Looking good is important, especially aboard a discount ship but remember that you are going on a holiday. Ideally, you should pack clothing that offers both the looks and comfort.

Tip #2: Don’t Worry About the Dress Code

The majority of discount ships don’t have a strict dress code which means that you can get away with just about anything during the day. During the dinner and formal nights, however, you will be expected to be dressed a little bit more formal. However, if there is no specific dress code, a dark suit and cocktail dress will do. But if you by any chance don’t have anything appropriate, it’s good to know that most ships offer dinner suit hire.

Tip #3: You Can Buy Just About Anything in the Shops Aboard

Cabins on all discount ships feature essential toiletries including soap, shampoo and lotion. However, there is a great chance that you won’t find your favourite products in the cabin. But no matter how picky you are about your toiletries, the shops aboard offer all the most popular hygiene and cosmetic products as well as all the small but important things you may forget such as toothbrush, sunscreen, etc.

Tip #4: Be Sure to Take a Small Bag

You will need it during the day aboard but you will also need it for excursions to the shore to hold your essentials. Also, a small bag can be a “life-saver” if your luggage is delayed for some reason or even worse, lost.

Tip #5: Don’t Forget the Documents

This is probably the only thing your discount ship can’t help you with. Before departing, double check your bag for passport/ID, cruise documents and other papers needed for the trip for one reason or the other. Also, be sure to always keep them with you.
